There's so much to love about this vision of the future of retail. First, it was based on Philip K Dick's novel, Minority Report. Second, and most important, it was envisioned by an ad hoc think tank that director Steven Spielberg convened and made up of futurists like Douglas Coupland and Peter Schwartz and Neil Gershenfeld. Third, created in 1999, it's supposed to depict a future of sometime around 2049 – yet much of the technology is coming to a store near you pretty soon.
